“Había tratos de venta, luego de ganar en Momouth, por lo que estuvo diez días solo caminando. Luego, se complicó con una bacteria en el estómago que retrasó su entrenamiento otras dos semanas”, precisó sobre este crédito del Lugamo Racing Stable que ya tiene a la visto el The Forty Niner (8F, 300K, GII) que se correrá el 28 de octubre en Belmont At The Big A, New York.
“Sus propietarios me consultaron si el caballo se adaptaría a esta pista, y mi respuesta es que es algo impredecible. Pero, lo que sí es cierto es que ha competido en cuatro tracks distintos, en todos con éxito, entonces por qué dudar de que en New York le puede ir bien”, reflexionó Barboza en torno al mejor caballo que, a su juicio, ha tenido en su carrera en Estados Unidos, donde está próximo a llegar a la marca de 500 victorias.

Long Range Toddy (Take Charge Indy), el zaino de siete años de edad, que recibió en su establo esta temporada y que parecía ya en el ocaso de su campaña, bajo la mirada del venezolano encontró un segundo aliento a tal punto de mantenerse invicto en Florida en dos salidas y encaminado a retomar el escenario de los stakes.
“Es un caballo que recibí proveniente de una finca, luego de una extensa campaña, pero al ver sus videos, sabía que tenía mucha clase”, recordó sobre el crédito del Zenith Racing que fue ganador del Rebel Stakes (G2), siendo juvenil, en aquella generación en la que compitió ante Omaha Beach e Improbable, entre otros estelares, hoy dedicados a la reproducción.
“Es una posibilidad que acompañe a Petulante a New York, también está en mira un Stakes en Delta Downs”, asomó Barboza, aunque es consciente de estos viajes, a los siete años, pueden pasarle factura a Long Range Toddy. “Aún queda un margen de tiempo para decidir. Mientras tanto, se chequeará el libro de Gulsftream Park, para tener otras alternativas aquí”.

La presentación de Grand Mo The First (Uncle Mo), el reciente fin de semana, en Santa Anita Park, California, siendo tercero de Endlessly (Oscar Perfomance) en el Zuma Beach Stakes(8F, Turf, G3), fue con nota alta en la óptica de su trainer.
“Debió viajar, primera vez al Turf, y estirándose a la milla. Con un comienzo complicado, quedando muy lejos y aún así pudo finalizar fuerte, luego de coger la curva muy abierto”, evaluó el desempeño del potrillo que su actuación le alcanzó para quedar 17• en la lista de probables en la Breeder’s Juvenile Turf (G1) que se disputará en el mismo track, la primera semana de noviembre.
“Justo este jueves, Grand Mo The First regresó a la pista para seguir entrenando. Aún no sabemos si se pudiera materializar su anotación en la Breeder’s, pero se queda en California porque otra alternativa es correr en el mismo día el Qatar Golden Mile (8F, 150K, Turf), precisó Barboza sobre el crédito del Gran Pollo Stable.
