Here Comes Francis (Improbable), el potrillo que impactó en su estreno al dejar 97 de Beyer, luego de ganar en 1’09”57 para 6 furlongs en la pista de Gulsftream Park, avanza hacia lo que será su segunda presentación.

“Gracias a Dios, (Here Comes Francis) regresó muy bien de su carrera. Después de una reunión con el dueño, y luego de descartar varias ofertas por la venta del caballo, hemos pensado en tomar una ruta distinta al Derby o las coronas. Ya que no tengo tiempo para entrenar al caballo para ese tipo de carreras, que requieren bastante stamina por las distancias de los stakes”, señaló Victor Barboza Jr, trainer del alazán.

Here Comes Francis, por el que Jeff Kresnak pagó 250 mil dólares en las ventas de Ocala del año pasado y que ahora disfruta para sus colores del Arcadia Michigan Stable, despertó interés al punto de que varios ofrecieron más de un millón de dólares por el prospecto.

Ahora, cuál será el plan por el veloz potrillo que fue capaz de de emplearse en parciales de 22’29” y 44”81 para la media milla? Víctor Barboza responde: “Pensamos ir escalando, ver hasta dónde nos responde el caballo. Tratando de tenerlo en su mejor momento para correr el Amsterdam Stakes (G2, 200K) , el 25 de julio en Saratoga”, adelantó.

Sin embargo, la brecha del tiempo es significativa para esta fecha señalada, al respecto Barboza prevé algunas otras opciones: “Estamos evaluando tres carreras que tenemos a la mano: un allowance en Gulsftream el 25 de abril, otro allowance el día del Kentucky Derby en Churchill Downs en 6 1/2 F, el 02 de Mayo está a la vista un stakes en Oaklawn
en 6 furlongs o en Pimlico otro stakes el 17 de mayo en la tarde del Preakness”, detalló.

Lo que sí está claro es que no hay prisa con el prospecto: “Hay que esperar que el mismo caballo diga dónde quiere ir, de lo que yo vea de él en sus entrenamientos, no hemos decidido cuál será su siguiente carrera, la decisión va a depender de sus próximos ejercicios del caballo y de su salud”, concluyó Barboza, quien espera desarrollar, a este hijo de Improbable, de la mejor manera posible.
