There’s no doubt that Paco Lopez knows the bay Alasdair (Street Sense) very well. He had already won with the Nolan Ramsey-trained horse in November 2024, also on the Turf, and without giving away any advantage, always guiding him on the rail.
This time, the six-year-old gelding owned by Jerry Marks Stables came in the middle of the field, but his jockey never lost faith in him, and halfway down the home stretch, he resolutely passed to defeat Flat Top Box, who tried to take the race from end to end. It was a $17,500 Claiming event, in which Alasdair clocked a time of 1’34″83 for the mile.
It was Nolan Ramsey’s eighth win of the season and his first at the recently started Royal Palm Meet at Gulfstream Park.
