In another quality performance, Eldest Son (Into Mischief) once again showed his courage when, this afternoon, he was able to take on stakes winners Tocayo and Grand Mo The First in a close finish of what was an Allowance Optional Claiming contest scheduled for 7 1/2 furlongs on the Gulfstream Park Turf.
The Nolan Ramsey-trained horse was putting on the pressure, wide open from his rivals, while Tocayo led the race and the favorite Grand Mo The First tried to sneak into the middle. In the straightaway, the horse owned by Daugherty Racing LLC dominated Tocayo and, with relentless determination from Panamanian Miguel Vasquez, was able to maintain a narrow margin over Grand Mo The First, who reacted to fall at the winner’s neck.
It was the seventh win for Tapit’s grandson, who clocked 1’26″70 for the distance and once again delivered a thrilling finish on the Gulfstream Park Turf. The training was overseen by Nolan Ramsey, who has been pictured in the winner’s circle in consecutive weeks.
